Stan Marek, CEO of MAREK, received the prestigious Eugene H. Vaughan Civic Leadership Award at the Center for Houston’s Future's signature fall event, Dinner and Conversation, on November 19th in Houston. Margaret Vaughan presented the award in recognition of Mr. Marek’s outstanding leadership, dedicated service, and significant contributions across the region, particularly his steadfast advocacy for sensible immigration reform.
The event, presented by Harvey|Harvey-Cleary, featured Linda Lorelle, CEO of Lorelle Media and Co-founder of Civil Dialogues, as the emcee. David Gow, President and CEO of the Center for Houston’s Future, also addressed the guests. A highlight of the evening was the conversation titled “A Texas Talk: Reflecting on the Past, Envisioning the Future”, moderated by Ms. Lorelle. The discussion featured Stephen Harrigan, the award-winning author of Big Wonderful Thing, a sweeping narrative of Texas history, and Sonal Shah, CEO of the Texas Tribune, who has an extensive background in social impact across various sectors.
David E. Harvey Jr. and Joe Cleary, co-chairmen of Harvey|Harvey-Cleary, chaired the event, which fostered community engagement and served as a platform for thought leadership.
