The new Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas is a world class facility inspiring awareness of science through an interactive environment by integrating architecture, nature and technology. Marek has played a part in this design by working alongside both Balfour Beatty, the general contractor and Morphosis, the architect out of LA to incorporate manual and motorized MechoShades on the perimeter windows as well as sloped shades in administrative offices and motorized tensioned skylight shades. The perimeter shades were mounted within the wall and so only appear to be the same shape as the angled windows. The auditorium is equipped with both solar and blackout shades for presentations while the serpentine windows in the children’s area have ‘banded’ (shades linked together to reduce the number of motors) motorized solar shades.
